Our Five Elements Los Angeles Retreat provides two opportunities to participate—Friday, May 2nd in Santa Monica and Saturday, May 3rd in Pasadena—with both sessions following the same schedule to accommodate participants from different areas of the city.

Led by Geshe Sonam, a Tibetan Bön monk, and Daniel Ahearn, LMFT, a licensed psychotherapist, this retreat introduces foundational Bön practices designed to restore inner balance and mental clarity. Participants will engage in Nine Breath Purification to clear energetic blockages, Five Element Meditations to harmonize body and mind, and concentration practices to stabilize awareness. Whether attending one or both days, this retreat offers a rare opportunity to learn from an authentic lineage while integrating practical mindfulness techniques for daily life.

In the Bön tradition, the Medicine Buddha, known as Sangye Menla, embodies the healing wisdom and compassionate power to alleviate suffering, both physically and mentally. Unlike a deity that grants external cures, the Medicine Buddha practice in Bön is a means of aligning oneself with the natural healing energies of the universe through visualization, mantra, and meditation. The practice invokes the deep blue light of the Medicine Buddha, representing the purity, clarity, and transformative power of awareness—qualities essential for true healing.

The Medicine Buddha meditation, when practiced as a group, not only promotes personal healing but also radiates compassionate energy outward, benefiting the greater community and all sentient beings.
